Shiny spots can be removed by sponging with water containing ammonia then pressing on wrong side with a warm iron. Heavy garments like men's clothes, coats and woolen dresses can be nicely cleaned with ordinary salt. If necessary sieve the salt to remove lumps and sprinkle a light layer of the salt over the garment lying flat. With an old linen handkerchief folded into a pad, rub the salt thoroughly into the fabric but be sure and rub with the nap. Then shake the garment to remove the salt and brush well with a stiff brush.

A second application may be required for especially soiled parts. The Kitchen Oilcloth. Put the white oilcloth on the kitchen table with ordinary flour paste instead of tacking it down. It will last longer. Another big help is to purchase brass ends for corners.

They are inexpensive, attractive and will last indefinitely.
